Chess composition was extensively cultivated by the arabs during the middle ages Today, their successors appear to be few in number. Perhaps the best known among the latter is the gifted and versatile Moroccan Abdelaziz Onkoud (b.1972). These examples of his craft are included in an autobiographical article which the composer recently published in the french periodical Diagrammes.
